Twilight is a romantic novel of vampires directed the public teenager, written by Stephenie Meyer and published in 2005. It is the first part of a series of four books, which are published, addition of twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and breaking dawn. Midnight sun is a project aside, unfinished, where Stephenie has been working for some time; in which repeats the story of twilight but narrated by Edward Cullen, this project has been suspended indefinitely by the author, due to the illegal distribution of the first 12 chapters.
The novel has been translated into 37 languages and has sold over 25 million copies.

Argument
The protagonist of the story is Isabella Marie Swan, a young woman of seventeen moved to Forks, Washington, once his mother becomes remarried with Phil, baseball, which is his new stepfather; player and due to the work of the travel constantly, by which Bella decides to live with Charlie, his father, so that his mother to travel to Phil's side. In the College meets Eric, Mike, Tyler, Jessica and Angela, who become their new friends.

In its first day of classes Bella sees five students that attract attention by its beauty and his pallor. Sit away from around the world, have little relationship with the rest of students. They are the Cullen brothers; Edward, Emmett, Jasper, Alice and Rosalie. In reality are not biological brothers, they all were adopted by Dr. Carlisle Cullen and his wife, Esme Cullen.

Among them, Edward is who quickly captures the attention of Bella. Your attention is on the rise, reaching its maximum point when he discovers Edward has great strength and speed, since when Bella is about to die crushed by a car driven by Tyler, Edward saves the life appearing alongside her supernatural quickly and stopping the car with the hand, being that Edward was in his car several meters away. One day his friends invite it the Beach of la Push, and it decides to go. On the beach, Bella meets a little more Jacob Black, the son of his father's best friend. But when mentions that Edward could not go with her, Sam, friend Jacob, says that the Cullen would not for the area of la Push, and she was very interested because seemed it that Sam said that the Cullen had "forbidden" income to La Push. Edward tries to protect her hiding it and his family tries to scare away the Hunter. Bella again fleeing and making believe his father does not want to spend the rest of his life in a village such as Forks Phoenix. Thus as Bella part in a car with Jasper and Alice, while Edward stays in Forks to not raise suspicion. James just finding and tricks Bella go to a school of ballet which was during his childhood. Threatens to kill his mother, making it believe that he has kidnapped it, if not meets with him alone.

Bella escapes from those who protect, risking his life for his mother and found that everything has been a hoax. It is alone with James and he intends to kill her. Begins to beat it and comes to bite him in the wrist. Gets a point that is unconscious and dreams that there is an Angel to her around, when in reality is Edward, reached the scene with his family. Dr. Cullen begins to heal Bella and Edward was forced to take his body apoison so she does not become vampire.

Bella awakens days later in a hospital, accompanied by his mother and Edward. The latter tells him that they should stay away from the other because it is dangerous for her, but neither of them can be without the other.

At the end of the book, Edward does Bella dance course end and there discuss the immortality of the young.

Stephenie Meyer has stated that the Apple cover represents the forbidden fruit from the book of Genesis, representing the forbidden love for Edward and Bella. The cover image appears later in the film, with the symbolic Apple in the hands of the protagonist.

Directed by Catherine Hardwicke, the film has starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson as Edward and Bella respectively. Despite being low-budget film was a success, grossing $ 70 million in its opening weekend in the United States.

The film premiered on November 21, 2008 in the United States and Mexico. On 5 December the same year in Spain and Latin America premiered on 19 December, in Venezuela on 13 December and in Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, Peru, Argentina and Chile on 1 January 2009.

The film received poor critical, getting 40 % on rottentomatoes.com. However was very well accepted by the fans , deciding continue with the second part of the saga (New Moon), whose name of the movie will be "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" (the twilight saga: new moon), with premiere on November 20, 2009.
